Religious Education

RE provides a rich diet allowing all children to learn about religions and from religions. We balance Biblical Studies with the study of Religions, including Christianity, in equal measure. RE is a feature at every level of the school from Nursery to the Seniors. By the end of Year 6 pupils will have a good grounding in the stories and teaching of the Christian Bible, a good understanding of Christian belief and practice and been introduced to Hinduism, Islam and Judaism.

In all our teaching we aim to integrate an understanding of sacred text, belief, practice and festival so that our pupils know how religions function. From year 7 onwards the RE programme prepares pupils for Common Entrance and Common Academic Scholarship. At this stage links are made to religious philosophy and ethics. We are a Christian School but RE is taught in such a way that all pupils, of whatever faith or of none, may gain from the subject.
