Pre Prep

Great Walstead Pre-Prep (Reception, Year 1 and Year 2) provides a vibrant and stimulating environment, where children learn through a balance of formal lessons with a broad curriculum and structured play. Our small classes enable us to tailor our teaching to the needs of each individual.

Our Reception classes create the perfect bridge between Nursery and Key Stage 1. The children are an integral part of the Pre-Prep but still maintain close links with the Nursery, whilst also being challenged and extended through a wide variety of carefully planned activities.

At Key Stage 1 (Years 1 and 2) children are encouraged to develop into enthusiastic, self-confident and highly motivated learners. We seek to nurture positive attitudes to work and a sense of responsibility and consideration for others. We have high expectations of the children but combine hard work with lots of fun, physical activity and opportunities to develop social skills.

The school’s Christian ethos underpins all that we do and there is a tremendous sense of community and family throughout the Pre-Prep. The children’s happiness and well-being are of paramount importance to us. It is our belief that any child who feels valued and secure will flourish both academically and socially. We seek to nurture the ‘whole child’, developing each individual’s strengths, whatever these may be.
