“Great art picks up where nature ends”
Marc Chagall, artist.
Great Walstead provides the stimulus, support and encouragement to produce ambitious artworks in the Art department. The children appreciate the space provided to stretch their artistic legs, the equipment to explore and practice with and the experienced enthusiasm of the teaching staff. The school is filled with artwork produced by individual children and works made collaboratively. Our exhibitions encourage passionate responses from visitors to the children’s wide-ranging art forms.
Great Walstead children comfortably enjoy the appreciation of art and interpretation of artworks during their visit to the Tate Modern gallery, which informs new ideas to be explored in and out of the classroom and a visiting artist each year introduces new experiences to draw upon.
Those children who are keen to pursue art further are able to attend extra classes each week, where they build on their passion for the subject.
